Linda Howard founded Alturnative Fitness in 2010, launching it with a blog that delivers information on lifestyle, fitness and holistic health. The company quickly grew to offer online and in-person coaching services and health and fitness related products.
The founder and CEO is a health and fitness guru who started on the path to optimal health over three decades ago. Her dream was to develop a company fueled by positive energy that inspired others to adopt a lifestyle that would gift to them good health, high energy and a long and enjoyable life.
Alturnative Fitness is evolving to be more than a health and fitness company; Alturnative Fitness is a lifestyle to that is being embraced. Our promise is to deliver happiness, fitness and total wellbeing to those that embrace the Alturnative lifestyle.
Alturnative Fitness is committed to delivering an innovative, natural and alternative approach to fitness and wellbeing. It is a fully integrated approach that combines lifestyle coaching, functional physical training techniques, nutritional education and tonic herbs.

Our Approach to Fitness
We believe that physical activity is a key component for overall good health and that fitness does not have to be financially burdensome or consume excessive amounts of time. We also believe that physical activity is an effective weight control and stress management tool and therefore greatly reduces the likelihood of obesity and stress related diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer and hypertension.
Our approach to exercise and fitness utilizes minimal equipment and teaches the client how to work with any available equipment (or bodyweight) to maintain a fitness program anywhere and at any time (at home, in a park, at a gym or in a hotel).
Our Approach to Dietary Training
We believe in sustainable solutions to healthy lifestyles. Our dietary training is not a meal plan. We provide diet and nutrition education that empowers. We believe that with greater understanding comes greater commitment and long-term adoption of healthy choices. We strongly believe in education! Simple put, we believe that if you “give a man a fish you feed him for a day; but teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
We teach how to avoid disease through purposeful eating; how to manage pain and reduce symptoms of chronic disease through food choices; how to increase energy, and in turn increase physical activity, with diet and herbal supplements; and how to control weight by understanding calories and food ingredients
Our Approach to Wellness Coaching
We believe that in order for one to experience true wellbeing one has to address every aspect of life: Physical, spiritual, social, intellectual, emotional and environmental. We believe the journey to wellness is a personal voyage that has to be self-driven. Our coaching program is designed to meet you where you are (your stage of readiness) and to help you develop your own roadmap to take you the rest of the way. We believe in empowerment through education, leading by example and fueling the fire within you with positive and loving energy. Our goal is to give you the life skills to live a long, healthy and happy life.
